The problem is not the AAC format, but the HFS+ filesystem that runs under iPod Touch and iPhone....
HFS+ is the Mac OS X default filesystem, so it won't be visible by the blue&me....
The same is for all those iPod used on Mac... Such as Ferrarista500's iPod Nano....
Simply try to format it and re-install the firmware on windows (I'm a Mac user too and I used Parallels) and disable the re-format in the iTunes on your Mac.
Fot the Touch and iPhone there is nothing to do. :( (for now)
I've given up trying to find a solution and started using a Sony Microvault instead in the Abarth.
Just a USB storage device.
